The Portland Trail Blazers (21-28) host the Charlotte Hornets (23-25) at the Moda Center on Tuesday, Jan. 31 in a 2016-2017 NBA regular season encounter.

Charlotte is on a downward spiral at this time with four consecutive losses following a three-game winning run. The team is eighth in the East right now, a half-game behind seventh-seeded team Chicago Bulls and one-and-a-half games ahead of ninth-place squad Milwaukee Bucks.

The Hornets are coming off a sorry 109-106 defeat to the Sacramento Kings on their home floor of Spectrum Center on Saturday night, as per the Charlotte Observer.

Kemba Walker led the squad during the loss with 26 points, three rebounds, and seven assists with Nicolas Batum backing him up with 19 points, seven boards, and seven assists as well. Marvin Williams was the third starter in double figures with 14 points and two rebounds.

Off the bench, Spencer Hawes scattered 12 points on 4-for-6 field goal shooting and also grabbed seven boards in 28 minutes for head coach Steve Clifford in a losing effort.

Meanwhile, the Blazers have snapped a three-game winning streak after falling to a Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors, 113-111, on their home floor of Moda Center last Sunday, Yahoo Sports reported.

CJ McCollum top-scored for head coach Terry Stotts' squad with 28 points on 10-for-16 field goal shooting, including a 5-for-7 clip from beyond the arc. He also had seven rebounds and three assists.

Damian Lillard had a bad night offensively with only 19 points as he shot 6-for-14 from the field. He also had eight assists and two boards.

Evan Turner added 18 points, four rebounds, and six assists while Mason Plumlee had a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards with two blocks.

Maurice Harkless led the second unit with 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 21 minutes of playing time.

Prediction 

The Hornets are 8-15 on the road this season while the Blazers are 13-10 at home. Portland is predicted to win a close one over Charlotte.
