The highly anticipated South Korean television drama "Moon Lovers" continue to add names to its cast. According to a report, the Girls' Generation singer Seohyun has been signed on as a cast member on the upcoming drama series expected to go on air in fall 2016. Read on for details.
Seohyun happens to be one of the many A-list actors joining the cast of "Moon Lovers." According to Koreajoongangdaily, a source from Ilgan Sports confirmed the news about the actress' supporting role in the drama.
The report notes that Seohyun will be portraying the role of the last princess of the Hubaekje kingdom in the period drama. It is said that the princess later became a kisaeng, an artist who works to entertain others.
Meanwhile, Lee Joon-gi will play the role of the fourth prince and IU will portray the role of female protagonist Hae-soo. Kang Ha-neul will star as Wang Wook the 8th Prince of Goryeo dynasty.
"Moon Lovers" is reportedly based on a Chinese novel, "Bu Bu Jing Xin," also known as "Startling by Each Step," by Tong Hua. Produced by NBC Universal, the show depicts the story of Hae-soo of modern day Seoul, who goes back in time to Goryeo dynasty where she finds Wang So.
In addition, "Moon Lovers" will also feature Hong Jong Hyun as Third Prince, Ji-soo as 14th Prince, boy band EXO's Byun Baekhyun as 10th prince, Nam Joo-huyk as 13th Prince and more.
According to Korea Portal, "Moon Lovers" will be a "comeback project in dramas" for Seohyun. She was first seen in the 2013's "Passionate Love." She also served as voice actors for Korean version of Hollywood animated movies "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2."
According to AllKPop, Seohyun and EXO's Chenyeol have recently wrapped up their upcoming Chinese movie "So I Married an Anti-Fan."
The network is yet to release a premiere date for "Moon Lovers" but it is expected to go on air in September, 2016 on SBS as well as in China, simultaneously.
