Paramount releases ‘Star Trek’ 50th anniversary video, sends fans to nostalgia

Paramount has released a short video compilation to celebrate "Star Trek" on its 50th year.

The 90-second video features memorable quotes from beloved characters with a bunch of throwbacks to the earlier iterations of the series to the recent franchise offerings. The compiled clips came from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: Enterprise," "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: The Animated Series."

The clip ends with the phrase, "The adventure continues," emphasizing the fact that the franchise is still well-received up to this day. In fact, "Star Trek" will come back in small screens with the upcoming TV series, "Star Trek: Discovery," which will be executively produced by Bryan Fuller, Screen Rant reported.

The franchise which debuted in "The Man Trap" on September 6, 1966 has emerged as one of the most adored science fiction franchise in entertainment history. In the last 50 years, different actors have played key characters who are now icon references in pop culture.

To celebrate "Star Trek" anniversary, producers, actors and fans of the franchise shared their favorite episodes from the original series, Variety reported. Alex Kurtzman, Morgan Gendel, Brannon Braga who were producers for the franchise cited "Amok Time," "The Paradise Syndrome" and "The Changeling" as their favorite episodes respectively.

"Star Trek" actors John de Lancie and Jonathan Frakes cited "Spock's Brain" and "Star Trek: Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" as the most memorable episodes in their career when they worked for the franchise.

Astrophysicist and trekkie, Neil deGrasse Tyson also chimed in and said that "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "The City on the Edge of Forever" were among his favorite episodes.

"Star Trek" will release its 50th Anniversary TV and Movie Collection this month while "Star Trek: Discovery" is set to debut in January 2017.
