Jackie Chan is back on the big screen with historical epic movie "Dragon Blade." Chan plays the leader of the Chinese government's "Silk Road Protection Squad" named Huo An who takes in the Roman army in year 50 B.C.

The Hong Kong actor stars alongside Adrien Brody and John Cusack. Courtesy of Signature Entertainment, the historical film is inspired by the story of a lost Roman legion. Cusack, on the other hand, plays a Roman general who becomes allies with the peacekeeper played by Chan.

Already a huge hit in China, the 61-year old actor told the Daily Star how "Dragon Blade" is slightly different from most of the Jackie Chan movies his fans have been used to. Chan explains that he wants to try many different genres to pose himself as more than just an action star.

Chan explains that he was inspired to do "Dragon Blade" because he was thrilled by the idea of the world's two greatest civilizations having an encounter. The story also allowed him to focus on broad philosophical issues revolving peace in the midst of war.

While Chan mentioned that his co-star Cusack has excellent kickboxing skills, he needed more training on fighting using weapons. The actor also explains how Brody had great initiative and great instincts early on by asking to see sword-fighting videos and practicing at home with a broom before training started.

Meanwhile, rumors have been circulating that Sylvester Stallone persuaded Chan to join the sequel of hit movie "Expendables", according to Variety. While Chan denies about the movie, he does reveal that the two have been working together but could not find the right script so far.

Speaking of sequels, Chan dished that the script for "Karate Kid 2" is still being developed. Chan revealed that Will Smith is a perfectionist and is not too comfortable with the current version of the script. According to Chan, "but he knows that we can't wait too much longer or Jaden will be taller than me!"

Chan will also be returning to his role as Monkey in "Kung Fu Panda 3." He is also marked in for three other films in pre-production for release including bringing the thrilling novel "The Foreigner" to the big screen.
