Camera is already rolling for the Emmy-winning HBO original series "Game of Thrones" Season 7. It is based on the best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin.

Filming for the penultimate season has begun in the show's production hub in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Entertainment Weekly reported. Additional locations for the seventh season include a return to Spain and Iceland.

It is worth noting that the production for "Game of Thrones" Season 7 usually starts in early July; however, it was pushed back to the end of August because of the weather condition.

"We don't have an air date yet," TV Line quoted show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as saying during a UFC podcast. "We're starting a bit later because, you know, at the end of this season, winter is here, and that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes any more. We kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim, gray weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."

This season's episode was also cut down to seven instead of the usual ten hour season. The list of directors for this season includes filmmaker Alan Taylor, whose previous projects includes "Thor: The Dark World" and "Terminator: Genisys." Also in the list are Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod and new comer, Matt Shakman.

Meanwhile, British actor Jim Broadbent, who played Horace Slughorn in the sixth "Harry Potter" movie "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," has been cast as a regular in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Though details about his character remains under wraps, it is said that Broadbent will play a pivotal role when the fantasy series returns in summer 2017.

"Game of Thrones" is an American fantasy drama television series starring Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The series premiered on HBO on April 2011 airing on Sundays at 9:00 pm in the United States. The series has already aired a total of sixty episodes from Season 1 to Season 6.
