GOT7's Jackson involved in a car accident; JYP released statement saying his injury is not serious

Member of popular boy group GOT7, Jackson Wang was reported to involve in a car accident on his way to the airport on Thursday Sept. 1. Following the accident, JYP Entertainment released official statement saying that his injury is not serious.

Wang was on his way to the airport in China, when an over-zealous fans followed his car. The fans drove recklessly and caused the accident involving Jackson's car. Following the accident, Wang was escorted away by a staff member as reported by The Daily Dot. Prior to that, he took the time to go to the stalker's car and asked the passengers is they were fine.

Jackson then took a flight to Japan and had hospital treatment for a minor injury.

JYP Entertainment later issued a statement regarding the accident. An agency representative as reported by Soompi told news outlet Ilgan Sports, "His injury does not seem serious. It appears to have been a minor collision."

Furthermore JYP asked the perpetator and fans to deter dangerous activity and stalking the idols.

"Following artists' cars is a dangerous act that could cause severe accidents involving not only the artist, but also yourself and everyone around you. As it is dangerous to not only your safety, but others' safety as well, we respectfully ask fans once more [to not act in this manner] so that a situation where the public is endangered does not arise," the statement said.

Fans who stalk idol are known as "sasaeng" in Korean and it has been issues for many years. Many sasaengs were caught breaking and entering the home of their idols', stalking idols on the street and stealing their phone numbers

Prior to the law that prohibit stalking, these actions were rarely prosecuted. Early this year, Korean legislature passed the law to prohibit stalking with two years of jail consequences and fine up to $17,000. The law is expected to reduce over-zealous fans' activity to stalk their favorite idols.
