Acer, a company known for its products in the PC market, is making a name for itself in the smartphone and tablet industry. Although Acer's smartphone market share is relatively small compared to giants like Apple and Samsung, the company is making significant advances in the entry-level and mid-tiered market segments. Recently, Acer launched two smartphones during the 2016 IFA conference in Berlin.

Acer unveiled two smartphones: the Liquid Z6 and the Liquid Z6 Plus. As the name suggests, the Liquid Z6 model is geared towards the entry-level market, while the Liquid Z6 Plus will be its mid-range counterpart.

At a quick glance, the two devices look identical. They both sport the same design, although they are built using different materials. The Liquid Z6 Plus has a fingerprint scanner located just below the display. The Liquid Z6 Plus also sports a unibody metal chassis, a factor that adds a premium feel to the smartphone.

In terms of specs, the Liquid Z6 has a 5-inch Full HD IPS display. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 chipset with a quad-core processor, 1GB of memory and 8GB of storage space. It sports an 8-megapixel rear facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for selfie shots.

On the other hand, the mid-ranged Liquid Z6 Plus sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display. According to Android Authority, it is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 with an octa-core processor, 3GB of memory, and 32GB of storage space. On the camera aspect, the Liquid Z6 Plus has a 13-megapixel rear facing shooter and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Also part of the package is the massive 4,080mAh battery pack.

According to Android Headlines, both the Liquid Z6 and Liquid Z6 Plus will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Liquid Z6 will be released in November in the following regions: Africa, Middle East, and Europe. The Liquid Z6 Plus will be released on the same regions in December.
