"American Gods" has recruited "Psych" alum Corbin Bernsen to board its freshman run.

According to Deadline, the actor will play the role of Vulcan in the small screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed fantasy novel. Described as one of Mr. Wednesday's oldest allies, Vulcan has created a comfortable life for himself by harnessing his powers for the modern world. In effect, this makes him resistant to Wednesday's plans.

Bernsen joins previously cast Kristin Chenoweth, who has been tapped to play Easter, the goddess of spring - Deadline reported in July. Chenoweth's casting on "American Gods" marks as a reunion for the actress and creator Bryan Fuller, after working together on the comedy series "Pushing Daisies." At Comic Con, the actress shared that she is "excited" to be reunited with Fuller.

"This actually the first time I've met some of the cast," she told the crowd.

"I can't wait come in your play box and scratch around."

The future of the characters, meanwhile, was addressed by author Neil Gaiman during the panel. The author revealed that it is "looking more and more likely" that he will publish a sequel of the "American Gods" novel.

Created for television by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (The River), the story of "American Gods" follows the brewing war between old and new gods. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and travelling partner to Mr. Wendesday (Ian McShane), a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle new deities.

"American Gods" is slated to premiere sometime in 2017.
