Many were saddened when Sony decided to pull the plug off of its Xperia Beta Program last month. However, the Japanese tech giant recently announced that it is reviving the program and will include only one device, the Xperia X Performance. Reports reveal that Sony is planning to beta test the Xperia X Performance for the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat.

While the upcoming beta test from Sony sounds interesting for Android aficionados, the program has one catch: it is only available for selected regions. According to GSM Arena, for users to participate on the said program, they have to be in the following countries: Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. Sony has yet to confirm whether this is the final list of approved regions.

Sony Xperia X Performance users who are located in the above mentioned countries will be eligible to join the beta program. For those who will opt in to join, they will receive an update notification for the specific beta build once Sony starts rolling out the update. According to Techno Buffalo, the upcoming Android Nougat beta test from Sony will be limited to a select number of users only, so those interested to join and advised to sign-up as soon as possible.

This is not the first time that Sony is joining the beta test for an upcoming Android version. In the past, the company has released multiple beta versions of the Android operating system to selected users before releasing the final update.

As usual, the beta test program comes with precautions. Since it is a beta software, the version of Android 7.0 Nougat will have many bugs and unusual quirks. The main reason for a beta program is to test the software and point out bugs and loopholes in order for software developers to properly fix it before rolling it out to the masses.
