"Attack on Titan" creator Hajime Isayama has finally confirmed a spring 2017 release date for the anime's second season, following several delays that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
While no official confirmation has been made yet as to the definitive story arc of the upcoming season, the "Attack on Titan" fandom continues to be rife with rumors regarding its plot - particularly those involving the secrets of the Colossal Titan, the Armored Titan, and the mysterious Reiss family.
If the anime adaptation stays true to the manga's story, then "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will reveal more about the Titans' origins and their connection to Historia Reiss, who is better known to Season 1 viewers as the meek and lovable Krista Lenz.
In addition, fans will witness an uprising, led by Survey Corps Commander Erwin Smith and Captain Levi Ackerman, against the corrupt Royal Government. As forecasted by Movie Pilot, this uprising would eventually expose a massive conspiracy involving Krista, who will later on be revealed as Historia Reiss, the descendant of the legitimate royal family within the walls.
If the promotional image of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 is any indication, the civil war brewing amongst the different human factions is not the only problem the protagonists would have to face.
In the image reproduced by Rocket News, the series' main characters - Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert - are shown together with the three key Titan players last season - Titan Eren, the Colossal Titan, and the Armored Titan - in what could only be surmised as an adversarial meeting. More secrets will also be exposed, as the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan are expected to reveal their true identities, as well as their motivation behind the first season's Shiganshina district carnage.
While viewers could only keep on speculating as to the second season's twists and turns, in true "Attack on Titan" fashion, fans should expect several battles, bloodshed, and deaths of major characters.
