The Fairy Tail mages are still attempting to get back to their guild, but their path has been blocked by enemies. Will they make it in time to save Mavis? The events will unfold more in "Fairy Tail" Chapter 498.
"Fairy Tail" Chapter 498 is expected to feature Gray's battle against Invel. According to Yibada, he might show some new Ice magic since fans believe that he has gotten stronger. It remains to be seen what he will use since his foe is much more powerful than his curent level, but some believe that he has not yet achieved the true powers of his Ice Make and Ice Devil Slayer magic. Leon is also speculated to give him a helping hand.
Fans will recall that in Chapter 496, Gildarts suddenly arrived just as the mages were facing off against God Serena. As soon as Gildarts succeeded in making a direct hit, the rest rushed off toward their destination. But then, Invel, the Winter Mage, was shown gazing at them from a high place.
As they are moving forward in Chapter 497, the team is once again stopped by enemies. Elfman and Lisanna face off against Ajeel, Minerva fights aganst Wahl, and Mirajane, Erza, and other mages are locked in their own respective battles.
As Natsu tries to clear his path, his dragon flame suddenly gets frozen and blames Gray for it. However, it's not the latter's doing. Natsu surrounds the group with fire and, again, it becomes ice. Shortly after, Invel shows himself and Lucy, Juvia, and Natsu freeze. It's only Gray who is able to move. He faces off with the enemy but, although they are both Ice Magic users, it seems he is no match for his foe. Even he feels cold and his body starts to freeze.
Meanwhile back in the guild, Mavis is in trouble and the Fairy Heart is at risk of being lost. As Lady Eileen conducts the separation enchantment to steal it, Zeref asks her if the procedure is already done. It seems he doesn't want to see the Fairy Tail's first master suffering. But then, if they succeed in extracting the Fairy Heart, it will be the end for the First.
After Zeref leaves, Neinhart tells Eileen that Erza is still alive. She gives him an order to kill her. This means that Erza will have to face yet another foe that could challenge her skills. Fans will find out what happens next in "Fairy Tail" Chapter 498.
