Stephen Lang previously expressed his interest to play Cable in "Deadpool 2," but recently, the actor casted doubts on landing the role. He currently holds the role of Colonel Miles Quartich in James Cameron's "Avatar," and because both films belong to Fox, there might arise scheduling conflicts. The movie is still in its early stages and no release date has been announced.

A lot of Marvel fans were excited when Lang took to Twitter his interest to take on the role. He has been eyed to play Cable in "Deadpool 2" because of his reputation of being able to play the bad guy roles very well. He also shares an uncanny resemblance to the original comic book character.

However, during an interview with Cinema Blend, he said there was only a slim chance that he would be given the role.

Lang is praised for his role in Cameron's "Avatar" so it is likely that he will continue to portray Colonel Quartich. Movie Web reported that Cameron has big plans for the succeeding installments of "Avatar," and is planning to film them simultaneously. This would make it nearly impossible for Fox to situate the actor's schedule for both roles. It would also be more practical to look for someone to sign for the role of Cable in "Deadpool 2" rather than replace him as Colonel Quartich.

Lang said that he was still hoping to be given the role, but if not, he will continue to extend his support for the success of "Deadpool 2." Meanwhile, he is set to appear in the horror movie "Don't Breath" to be released on Aug. 26.
