Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios has announced that "Avengers: Infinity War" will be the title of the third "Avengers" installment, while the second is tentatively called "Untitled Avengers." Directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirms that both are different movies and the third installment will not be split into two. This raises speculations if the old Avengers team will be retained.

A few months ago, news rounded that "Avengers: Infinity War" would be a two part film. However, the Russo's confirmed recently that the assumed second part would actually be a standalone film. The Wrap reported that the directors signaled intent to change the titles so as not to confuse their audience. The third installment will still follow the original release date slated on May 2018 to be followed by "Untitled Avengers" on May 2019.

The decision to not have a second part for "Avengers: Infinity War" has raised a lot of questions in terms of the cast. It is now raising speculations that Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a Ironman and Chris Evans a.k.a Captain America and the rest of the cast will not be appearing for the fourth installment, "Untitled Avengers." It is unclear if Marvel will continue the story with the team or will be ushering the new phase of characters being introduced now.

According to Deadline, the Russo's have hinted the appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel in the "Avengers: Infinity War." However, they confirmed that Larson's appearance was to debut her character in preparation for her character's standalone film. They will commence filming the third installment on November.
