Singer-actress Laura Benanti appeared on "The Late Show" hosted by Stephen Colbert and went on stage imitating Melania Trump's various poses in front of a digital American flag. Benanti, the Trump look alike, defended herself by saying that she did not plagiarize a Michelle Obama speech.

The singer continued by quoting famous lines from various personalities like Charles Dickens, Dr. Seuss, Beastie Boys, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and more. The audience laughed at the speech given as it grew more vague,  Redot Zone reported.

Donald Trump, played by Jimmy Fallon on "The Late Show," defended Melania by giving a fake speech, saying that she delivered the speech so well as if she was a true first lady. After the speech, Fallon danced to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal."

Melania delivered the biggest speech of her life at the Republican National Convention, but the speech was reportedly plagiarized from the first lady's previous speech. The speech was during the opening night of the Republican National Convention on July 18, Monday.

Melania's speech was supposed to center on why her husband Donald is the best presidential candidate. It turned out that Melania's words were almost identical to the United States first lady's speech on 2008, with minor words adjusted. The flow and wordings, however, were just the same.

Melania initially hired two speechwriters who wrote signature political oratorical pieces, one of whom made the nations speech of President George W. Bush on Sept. 11, 2001. The two speechwriters gave their drafts to Melania a few weeks before the convention. Instead, she decided to tear it apart and make her "own" speech.

The two speechwriters were unaware of how much Mrs. Trump have changed their drafts, not until the night of the Republican National Convention, Rolling Stones reported.
