The fate of Carrie Matheson in "Homeland" Season 6 has been discussed by "Homeland" executive producer Leslie Linka Glatter, offering a conjecture about the possibility of Carrie getting a normal life after going through a pretty troubled career in the CIA.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Glatter presented a theory about Matheson's future, saying that "maybe she will end up running a coffeehouse." However, since Claire Danes' character has been known to be bipolar and had always been put through life-changing decisions, Glatter was quick to add that it will be interesting whether Carrie could still find "inner peace" despite her heavy baggage.

However, that lingering mystery will have to be revisited later as Showtime has already renewed "Homeland" for seasons seven and eight. The early renewal means that the series is sure to deliver more stories for two more years.

A few developments have circulated the web in the past months, giving away the new plotlines and returning characters viewers can expect on "Homeland" Season 6. Some of the spoilers include the return of Agent Peter Quinn (played by Rupert Friend), the introduction of a female-elect president, and the migration of the show's setting from Berlin to New York.

The dramatization of the upcoming US Presidential election will also come into play in "Homeland" Season 6, an arc which "takes place during the intermediary phase," Danes said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Danes explained that it is the in-between moment where the elected leader waits for his official inauguration to take over the presidential post will be one of the highlights of the season.

As for Carrie Matheson's mental state, Danes teased that her character is "pretty ravaged," but "seems in the mood to stabilize" when Season 6 opens.

"Homeland" Season 6 will premiere sometime in January on Showtime.
