Jensen Ackles will be giving his character Dean Winchester more air time in "Supernatural" Season 12, as he will not be directing any episodes this season. Jared Padalecki, on the other hand, will reprise his role as Sam Winchester, and reveals that his character will develop a deeper relationship with Castiel, played by Misha Collins.
Ackles has committed himself to direct the opening episodes in every season of "Supernatural," but this year, he expressed via TV Line that he was going to take a break and focus more on acting. As of date, he has directed 5 episodes for 5 seasons of the show. He said that 23 episodes for one season was a long shoot so he wanted to just pace himself.
Padalecki, on the other hand, expressed his excitement on working with Collins, as he said that he was looking forward to more Sam and Castiel scenes. Viewers are so used to seeing Dean and Castiel but now they will be witnessing the development of Collin's character with the younger Winchester.
"Supernatural" Season 12 will likely pick up from where it left off during the previous season. The season finale introduced Lady Antonia Bevell played by Elizabeth Blackmore, a representative from the UK Men of Letters. She will turn as the new villain that the Winchester's will have to face.
The previous season also explored on the myths of the Men of Letters, in which Ackles found interesting during the filming. It is said that brother's will find themselves into war with the Men of Letters in season 12. The actor hinted that it would also be fun to revisit purgatory which led to speculations that it might just happen.
"Supernatural" Season 12 will now air during Thursday nights on CW beginning fall of 2016.
