The future of "Longmire" Season 5 remains in limbo. After Netflix revived the show from A&E's cancellation, it remains to be seen whether "Longmire" will continue after season five.
According to Deadline, the streaming giant has officially renewed the "Longmire" for Season 5, but fans have not yet heard any follow-up plans for the Western crime drama since the news came out in October. While it is yet too early to tell, the lack of buzz about "Longmire's" future could be a hint that the upcoming fifth season will also mark the final run of the show.
Subsequently, the cast has announced that "Longmire" Season 5 has officially wrapped up production earlier this month. Series star Lou Diamond Phillips tweeted a behind-the-scenes photo last week, expressing his gratitude to Longmire followers.
"It is a beautiful (final) day at the Red Pony and continual soirée...until next season!" the actor said.

Since Phillips mentioned "until next season," it is still possible that "Longmire" could get a Season 6. Usually, it takes time for showrunners and the cast to close a new deal with their respective networks. In the case of "Longmire," it is highly likely that Netflix is just finalizing negotiations with the show's team before making an official announcement. While fans wait for Netflix's future plans for "Longmire," it is rest assured that the new bunch of episodes will be another great round of entertainment. On July 4, Monday, co-star Cassidy Freeman posted a photo on Twitter announcing that they have finished shooting season five, wherein she also promised that fans are going to love it.

Created by Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny, "Longmire" hails from executive producers Christopher Chulack, Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin. It also stars Bailey Chase, Katee Sackhoff and Robert Taylor.
Netflix has yet to announce the official premiere date of "Longmire" Season 5.
