Kang Ji-young Talks About Acting Career in Japan

Former Kara member Kang Ji-young recently talked about her acting career in Japan in a recent interview and the day-to-day challenges she has faced.

According to All Kpop, the interview was about her upcoming movie, Kataomi Spiral. In the interview, Kang stated that she has learned a lot of things in Japan especially in terms of discipline.

The actress said that when she was starting out, there were days when she was tempted not read the screenplay and just go to sleep or skip out on classes. However, now she always makes a conscious decision not to give in to the temptation.

Kang stated that since she used to be part of a group, it was very difficult and lonely to be alone in Japan.

The actress also revealed that she focused on learning the Japanese language and put in a lot of effort to ensure that she learned it. Kang revealed that she was careful during conversations. She admitted that at first and she kept making a lot of mistakes, but it is better now.

Kang also expressed happiness about the stories written about her for her work in the anime Assassination Classroom. She said this is an acknowledgement that people are noticing her and taking interest in her work as an actress instead of asking her questions about Kara.

Kang said she hopes to play a variety of roles in the future and revealed that she dreams of being a recognized actress in both Japan and Korea.

Kang Ji-Young was a member of the girl group Kara before leaving in 2014 to focus on her acting and language skills. She has worked as an actress in Japan since then. She has also continued to record music, with songs like The Last Farewell, which was used as an official theme in the Japanese drama Higanbana.
