Sistar's Soyou Denies Earning 1.3 Billion Won From Music Sales

Sistar's Soyou has denied that she has made 1.3 billion Won (over $1 million) from the digital sales of her tracks.

In an episode of Entertainment Weekly on June 25, the singer was asked to confirm the rumors and she immediately denied it. The rumored profits are assumed to have come from sales of her massive hit "Some." In the interview, she was also teased by fellow Sistar members and asked her if it is true.

Soyou's track "Some," which is a duet with JunGiGo, was released in 2014 and has proved very popular. The song was ranked number one on various music charts for more than a month and earned the singer ten music show victories.

Soyou has found success as a solo performer, with collaborations on TV drama soundtracks as well as songs like Officially Missing You, which is a duet with hip-hop duo Geks.

Soyou has declared that the rumors are ridiculous,  saying that it would mean that she made more money than Taeyeon  of Girl Generation, whose songs have sold over a million copies.

Soyou and the other members of Sistar made their debut in 2010 and are being managed by Starship Entertainment.  The popular girl group recently staged a very successful comeback after the release of their album Insane Love, which proved to be a hit throughout Korea. The album has seven tracks which include the hit song I Like That, which reached number one in a lot of musical charts such as Genie, Mnet, Melon, and Bugs.
