Actor Kim Sung-min is said to be in a coma after he was found unconscious in his home following a suicide attempt.
According to All KPop, on June 24, the police received an emergency call from the actor's son, who revealed that his father was beating his mother. Kim's son, who is 18 years old, did not elaborate on the incident. Police rushed to the actor's home, but Kim's wife told officials that they only had a minor argument. She also revealed that she will be leaving with their son to spend the night at her parent's home.
However, about ten minutes after leaving their home, Kim's wife is said to have called the police again saying, "My husband often talks about killing himself if he drinks. When we were arguing before, he said we should separate, so I'm worried that he might do something out of hand."
She then asked police officials to check on their home once again and ensure that Kim is alright, Soompi reported.
At around 1:55 a.m., police officers went back and discovered that had Kim attempted to commit suicide. He was seen hanging from the ceiling of a bathroom from a necktie. Kim was then taken to a hospital immediately, but was unconscious. He still has pulse and has been declared to be in a comat. He is said to have been placed on a ventilator.
In the past, Kim has been charged with illegal usage of philopon, a form of methamphetamine. In 2011, he was sentenced to two year and six months behind bars. The actor was again sentenced to 10 months in jail last year and was released in January.
