Ron Ng has been selected to become part of a new action film entitled Shock Wave, alongside Andy Lau.

Ng ended his 17-year relationship with TVB in 2015 and now plans to pursue an acting career in the film industry. The new film he will be part of will be directed by Herman Yau. The movie is said to be worth $23 million. Lau will be starring as an undercover explosive ordinance disposal bureau officer. His character will be tasked with capturing a criminal bomb specialist.

Earlier this week, Ng was seen in Wan Chai as they were filming one of the scenes of the movie. He was spotted with Louis Cheung and Babyjohn.

Ng, 36, said in a statement that Shock Wave is the beginning of a new chapter in his life as he continues his career as a Hong Kong film actor.

It is not yet clear what role Ng will be playing in the film, but he revealed that he took a few classes on explosives and detonation theory to better understand his character and portray it well. He said he is grateful to be working with veteran actors in the film and jokingly suggested that he could do Shock Wave for free.

Ng was photographed wearing a cop uniform, so it is possible that he plays the role of a police official in the film.

Ng's co-star, Cheung, also revealed more about his role in the movie. Cheung plays the role of a travel guide in the film. "There's going to be a scene of me protecting my tour group from terrorists. People are going to be doing the action on me instead. In the film, I speak many languages, as well as very broken Mandarin," he said.

Babyjohn will be playing the role of an abducted cop who will have explosives taped onto his body. He said in a recent statement that he hopes Shock Wave will deliver the message that many Hong Kong police officials are willing to do anything to protect citizens.
