KBS is eyeing to cast Seo Kang Joon for a robot character in an upcoming drama, titled "Are You Human Too." In fact, an insider confirmed they are currently in talks with the singer-actor for the lead role.
"We are currently discussing the possibility [of Seo Kang Joon's casting] with the actor. Nothing has been formally decided upon as of yet," a KBS official said as cited by Soompi.
"Are You Human Too" centers on the creation of artificially intelligent robots to impersonate human beings. If things go well with Seo Kang Joon, the singer-actor will take the role of Namshin-III (God-III), a handsome robot that can understand human emotions.
Aside from this little information, nothing has been revealed about the KBS drama and its potential airdate. However, it was reported that "Are You Human Too" will start rolling once the casting is completed.
Meanwhile, Seo Kang Joon's possible appointment for the lead role received mixed response from the netizens. Allkpop cited some of them thought the "Cheese in the Trap" actor is perfect for the robot role, while others laughed at the idea.
"Hasn't he always acted like a robot? What's new about this?" a netizen wrote. Another one said, "If he fails to act as a robot, it's going to be sad."
On the other hand, Seo Kang Joon's fans came to rescue him from the haters and critics. "I can't say Seo Kang Joon is a great actor, but he isn't that bad as people make him out to be," a fan posted.
"Robotic acting? Clearly these netizens haven't seen "Cheese in the Trap." His character was emotional and he did a good job," another fan countered.
