Minnesota Timberwolves is looking for player who can improve the scoring. For that reason, the Wolves made an inquiry to New York Knicks for possible swap of point guard, offering Ricky Rubio in exchange for Derrick Rose.

As the trade deadline is closing in, NBA teams are trying to overhaul their roster and get the better player, including Minnesota Timberwolves that currently ranked at the bottom three of the Western Conference standings. The Wolves is reported to approach New York Knicks to inquire about swapping the point guard, according to ESPN.

Rubio is an outstanding point guard in the defensive end, but he is not efficient enough to elevate the team performance in term of scoring. The 26-year-old player is not an excellent scorer, as he only averages 10.1 points per game in his six seasons with Timberwolves.

The 6’4” point guard is a good ball distributor with 8.3 assists per game and an excellent defensive prowess. However the Wolves needs point guard who can score and improve team offense. For that reason, the Wolves management approached New York Knicks to seek the possibility of landing Rose in Minnesota.

Rose is a better player in term of scoring than Rubio. He already passed his prime time, but the 28-year-old player is still one of the highly respected point guard in the league. In his first season with the Knicks, he averages 17.1 points but only 4.5 assists.

The deal seems a good one for Knicks, because it can get a better ball distributor as the team has already high scorers in Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. Rubio will be the player needed to improve ball distribution and defense for New York Knicks, Daily Knicks reported.

Regardless, there are many reasons that need to be considered to make the trade decision. The trade may be beneficial for the next 3-4 years, but Knicks management needs to weigh in the possibility of the future team to bring New York Knicks back into the elite level again.
