In an episode of "Video Star," Lee Young Eun surprised the viewers when she revealed she is friends with actor Song Joong Ki. Hence, the actress shared more of her friendship with the "Battleship Island" star in an interview with International BNT.
Lee Young Eun said the actor went out of his way to attend her wedding two years ago. "When I was getting married, I didn't have a chance to tell him. But he must have found out somehow while he was out on leave [from the military]," the actress said as per Soompi.
She added Song Joong Ki personally called to extend his greetings and was even present during the wedding ceremony. Not only that, Lee Young Eun added she keeps in touch with the actor despite their busy schedules.
The 34-year-old actress also said she is grateful to have a friend like Song Joong Ki, who is known for his talent and good personality towards co-actors as well as fans.
After serving the military, Song Joong Ki made a huge comeback with "Descendants of the Sun" where he played the male lead. He was even appointed as the Korean Tourism Honorary Ambassador following the success of the drama series.
Aside from that, the actor was casted for an upcoming film, titled "Battleship Island" alongside So Ji Sub, Hwang Jung Min, and Lee Jung Hyun. According to Allkpop, Song Joong Ki said they completed the filming for the movie after six months in December.
He added that it was a "meaningful production" for him, expressing that he is honored to work with the "Battleship Island" staff and crew.
"Battleship Island" follows the journey of about 400 Joseon workers in their quest to escape from Hashima. Song Joong Ki takes the role of Park Moo Yeong, an independent fighter who will enter Hashima to rescue a captive.
