"Godzilla 2" now has a new director after Gareth Edwards was reported to be out of the project. Krampus director Mike Dougherty is said to take over under Legendary Entertainment.

Cinema Blend reported that looks like "Godzilla 2" is in good hands since it will be directed by a known filmmaker whose area is in the genre of horror films. Dougherty is also known for directing "Trick 'r Treat" who by far has scared a lot of the people who saw it.

The studio decided to go with him than to hire Edwards again but they never revealed the reason for it. The word on the street though is that the studio saw Dougherty does his work in the writer's room for months and that's when they decided that he would be fit for the job.

The title for the second installment of this film will be "Godzilla: King of Monsters." Comic Book released a good news saying that Millie Bobby Brown is going to play a lead role in this movie. The 12-year-old actress started getting recognition for her role in a hit TV series, "Stranger Things." She, along with the cast of the Netflix series, was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an ensemble in a Drama Series in the recent Screen Actors Guild awards.

The child star is excited to work on this huge project saying she also has established a great connection with Dougherty. This is Brown's first feature film and she is looking forward to learning a lot from the cast and the director.

"Godzilla 2" will also be under Warner Bros. and its release date is expected to be March 22, 2019. Fans are in it for a treat because directors Edwards and Jordan Vogt-Roberts are teaming up in creating a crossover movie starting with Godzilla. This means that "Godzilla vs. Kong" is also scheduled for release on May 29, 2019.
