It was just recently when the American crime drama series "Sneaky Pete" concluded its first installment. Recent reports claim that the series has been renewed for another season.
According to Deadline, the decision of Amazon to renew the series for a second season might be due to the fact that it was the second most streamed originally scripted series behind "The Man In The High Castle." It was also noted in the report that "Sneaky Pete" acquired praises coming from top critics. The publication did also associate the renewal of the crime drama series to the cancellation of "Good Girls Revolt." It can be recalled that the series got canceled at its freshman weeks.
On the other note, a listing on Vanity Fair cited that "Sneaky Pete" originally aired in the CBS network way back in 2015 for 1 episode, but for an unknown reason, CBS did not pick the show. However, Sony Pictures Television was not ready to give up with the concept and talked to the creator of the show, Bryan Cranston, if "Sneaky Pete" could become a series. It was noted that Sony admitted to Cranston that they really like its pilot episode which aired in CBS. Sony added that although it was not the type of show that they want at that time, but their gut feeling led to a decision of making the procedural drama into a full series.
Moreover, Cranston told Vanity Fair that he and David Shore polished the concept for "Sneaky Pete." Their idea led them to creating a concept of a con man, Marius (Giovanni Ribisi), who changed his identity after being released from prison due to his unclosed financial deals with a particular gangster. Marius used the identity of Pete who has been his cellmate. Pete told him stories about his life, thus led to Marius's decision to use those stories in order to pretend as Pete.
As of the moment, there is still no confirmed date yet in regards to the premiere of "Sneaky Pete" Season 2.
