"Tomorrowland" actor Keegan-Michael Key is set to star opposite "Narcos" star Boyd Holbrook in Century Fox's science-fiction film "The Predator." "The Nice Guys" director Shane Black is being helmed on it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Key will play a man teaming up with Holbrook and "Moonlight" star Trevante Rhodes' characters as ex-Marines to fight the creatures in "The Predator." Holbrook replaced "Sicario" actor Benicio del Toro to become the first major casting which was announced in October 2016, and he will be leading the ensemble cast with Rhodes as his best friend. Del Toro was set to star in the project but fell out due to scheduling issues.

"The Predator" is a reboot of the alien action franchise of the same name that launched in 1987 which was directed by "Rollerball" director John McTiernan. Its plot details are still being kept under wraps other than the usual plot of an extraterrestrial monster facing off against earthlings. It will be set in a place wherein the audiences have not seen the Predator creature in action, Variety reported.

McTiernan-directed "The Predator" also starred "Terminator Genisys" actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Chicago Fire" actor Carl Weathers, and "The Drunk" actor Jesse Ventura as commandos attempting to rescue hostages. At the same time, the three commandos were being stalked in a jungle in Central America by a fearsome extra-terrestrial played by Kevin Peter Hall.

Key is best known for Comedy Central's cult comedy series "Key and Peele." He has been making in-roads into movies by making appearances in 2015 Brad Bird's action film "Tomorrowland" and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein's comedy film "Vacation" while also starring in 2016's comedy "Keanu." The multi-Emmy nominee was last seen in Fox's comedy film "Why Him?"

"The Predator" is set to be released on Feb. 9, 2018. "RoboCop" writer Fred Dekker wrote the script and the 1987 film producers John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon will be producing the reboot.
