Woody Harrelson's admission that he will play young Han Solo's mentor Garris Shrike was discredited by Lucasfilm Executive Pablo Hidalgo. Harrelson recently confirmed in an interview that he will be part of the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off, which is expected for release on May 25, 2018.

However, Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo tweeted that he will let others sort out Harrelson's confirmation and that people should ask what question was the actor answering, Cinema Blend reported. He even responded to a fan's tweet, saying that it's another case of "Darth Vegas" and that actors, especially Harrelson, don't even know these names. Harrelson was asked if he would be part of the next Star Wars spinoff and if he would be playing Garris Shrike, and the actor simply answered yes.

This means that it is not really certain whether he is answering the former or the latter, Vulture reported. There is also a big chance that Shrike won't be in the young Han Solo spin off movie since he is no longer part of the canon. The Expanded Universe is now called "Legends" from originally being called canon after Disney acquired Star Wars.

The confirmation that he will be part of the Star Wars spin off movie happened during the Sundance Film Festival last weekend when Harrelson was promoting his movie "Wilson." The video of the interview clearly shows that the actor was confused with the question and it is not really certain if he was confirming that he would play Garris Shrike.

Harrelson will star in the untitled Han Solo spin off movie along with Emilia Clark, Donald Glover and Alden Ehrenreich. There are no reports on who Clarke will play, but Glover will play Lando Calrissian, while Ehrenreich will play the beloved smuggler turned rebel hero Han Solo.

Shrike first came out in A.C. Crispin's Han Solo novel back in 1997. The book was called "The Paradise Snare," where Shrike mentored and raised the orphan Han Solo into a life of felony.

Shrike is notoriously infamous for using orphans to do his criminal bidding and Han Solo is one of them. Shrike and Solo had an antagonistic and hateful relationship that didn't end very well, which could mean that if Harrelson will play the character, he would be the main antagonist in the spin off Han Solo Movie.
