"Fifty Shades Darker" recently tapped Kim Basinger to play the role of Christian Grey's (Jamie Dornan) former BDSM mentor Mrs. Robinson.

Prior to the announcement, book author E.L. James hinted that she will be sharing some casting news to fans of the trilogy, according to Yahoo.

It was later on announced that the role of Mrs. Robinson was given to the 62-year-old actress.

As of late, Basinger has not yet commented regarding her casting, but fans are already looking forward to seeing her in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel.

In the books, Mrs. Robinson is known as the woman who introduced Christian to the world of BDSM.

In "Fifty Shades Darker," she will resurface and encourage Christian to not give up his passion for BDSM. However, Christian will inform Mrs. Robinson that he is now seeing a beautiful woman named Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) so he has to change for the better.

Mrs. Robinson wouldn't like the idea of Christian changing so she would have a not-so-good relationship with Anastasia.

The latter, on the other hand, will also not want to have anything to do with her because she knows that she isn't a good influence on Christian.

Meanwhile, the filming for "Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to take place on Feb. 9 in Vancouver, Canada. If everything goes as planned, the filming is expected to come to an end in July, according to IBTimes.

As of late, it is still unclear whether or not this short timeline already includes the third installment "Fifty Shades Freed." In the past, there were reports that "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" will be filmed back-to-back.

In other news, fans are still awaiting casting news for the roles of Leila Williams and Jack Hyde.

Leila Williams, as portrayed in the book, also happens to be Christian's former submissive. She has a dark past, and she will risk Anastasia's life when she returns to meet up with Christian.

Jack, on the other hand, is Christian's nemesis. Anastasia will work for him for a short period of time, but the former will leave because he will make a move on her.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
