"Deadpool 2" is set to be the film to introduce the "X-Force" in Fox's "X-Men" universe.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernich said that Cable and Domino will become occasional teammates of the Merc with a Mouth. They also went to say that "Deadpool 2" will focus on a black-ops alternative X-team, Screen Rant reported.

"There is a responsibility we have to the X-Force universe, and I do think we will not disappoint the fans going into Deadpool 2... Its purpose is not to set up X-Force. It will likely set up X-Force, but the drive of the movie won't be our eyes on Movie 3," Reese said.

Wernick added that while they want to tell the best "Deadpool" story possible, they are also also inclined to think about a larger universe that could be likened to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, while he did say that some of those films feel overstuffed, so they may try a different approach to avoid that problem, Collider reported.

"We want to hint at things, we want to plan some characters, and we want to make some nods, but we're very, very cognizant about making sure that Deadpool is above all a Deadpool movie," he said.

Reese and Wernick also agree that getting Cable on board is a tricky task. While the character is largely popular in the comic books, the same could not be said when the character is translated to film.

To address this, they promised to deliver a faithful portrayal of the character for the movie. However, they admitted that it would be challenging to do so considering Cable's convoluted origin story.

"How do we get that across in a two hour movie?" I think we're going to distill him down to his essence. It will be authentic and faithful, but it's not going to include the 18,000 details if you were going to read a Wikipedia page about Cable you'd roll your eyes," Wernick said.
