It's confirmed! EXO's Kai will star in a new KBS drama this year. This is going to be the first ever lead role for the boy band member.

EXO's Kai will be paired with former child star Jung Da Bin. The upcoming drama will be titled "Andante" and will follow the lives of high school students in 16 episodes. KBS has not confirmed an official release date but it will likely air during the second half of the year.

The news was confirmed by Kai's label SM Entertainment, AllKpop stated. According to SM Entertainment, it is true that Kai is appearing in "Andante."

Kai will play the high school student Lee Sook-kyeong. The drama will be in pre-production or completely produced before it will start airing in KBS. It will be written by "Sharp" writer Kwon Ki Yung and will be headed by Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek director Park Ki-ho, Korean news site Nate.com has learned.

Meanwhile, Jung Da Bin's label R's Company also made an official statement regarding the issue, by saying "It's true that she's been cast for 'Andante'. She attended the first script reading on the 10th."

Jung Da Bin was dubbed as the "Ice cream girl" in South Korea after debuting in an ice cream commercial in 2003. Aside from "Andante," she will also become part of the 2017 remake of "My Sassy Girl" as Gyun-Hee. The 16-year-old actress already appeared in a number of TV series and a few movies in Korea.

Kai already showed his acting chops when he became part of "Choco Bank," "EXO Next Door," and just recently, the "First Seven Kisses." In the recently concluded "First Seven Kisses," he played a role as himself.

He appeared in Episodes four and five of the web series that also starred big actors Lee cho-hee, Choi ji-woo, Lee Joon-gi, Park Hae-jin, Ji Chang-wook, Ok Taec-yeon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Min-ho. It aired starting last December until Jan. 5 on Naver TV Cast and YouTube every Monday and Thursday.
