After years of hard work in the entertainment industry, Ajay Devgn will be awarded Padma Shri award for his contribution to the nation. He happens to be one of the 112 recipients of Padma Awards 2016.

On the occasion of India's Republic Day, the list including the names of several known personalities to be honoured under various categories of the Padma awards-Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri-were announced. The list of one of the highest civilian Award of India includes people to be recognised by the Government of India for their contribution in various fields. 10 people will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan, the second degree honour, 19 people will be awarded Padma Bhushan, the third-degree honour, and 83 people will be given Padma Shri, the third degree honour. Devgn, who is currently filming his upcoming movie "Shivay," expressed his elation in a statement. "I feel deeply humbled yet elated to receive such honor from my own country. This announcement today makes it special for me when I'm filming abroad for my new film 'Shivaay,'" Devgn said as quoted by Times of India.
In his statement, he promised to continue to serve the nation with his work. "I'd like to acknowledge that Padma Samman puts an extra responsibility on me and I promise to serve my country for as long as I can."

Meanwhile, actor's wife Kajol, also one of the top Bollywood actresses, shared her happiness with her fans on Twitter. The "Dilwale" actress, a recipient of Padma Shri award herself, said on Twitter:


Rajnikanth, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher and Udit Narayan are some of the other Padma awards honourees among others.

This is not the first time Devgn has been honoured by Government of India for his work in the movies. He is a two-time winner of the prestigious National Film Awards for the Best Actor in a Leading Role category. The 46-year-old Bollywood actor won his first National Film award in 1998 for the movie "Zakhm," followed by the second award in 2002 for "The Legend of Bhagat Singh."
