As mentioned in an earlier report, the "Dragon Quest" franchise will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. And by doing so, Japanese television channel NHK has aired a special presentation dedicated to the long-running series. While the rest of the entire program has yet to make it online, we'll be able to get a glimpse of the features of the latest upcoming installment "Dragon Quest XI" in YouTube.

According to the recent coverage of the issue, NHK's special segment of the series "Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" has already uploaded a portion in YouTube that features battles, new locations and a mountable, flying dragon.

Here's the clip (although, it's still in Japanese):

The video features the protagonist flying around on a bright blue dragon. Although this would be one of the best parts of NHK's special presentation, this particular segment is just brief and just one part of the two-minute overview of "Dragon Quest XI." But, nonetheless, it's still one of the most engaging features of the game's preview and it'll probably deliver even MORE during the actual release of "Dragon Quest XI."

We've already covered the gameplay mechanics and visuals for the latest installment in the "Dragon Quest" saga, especially with the PlayStation 4 version's lush environments and battle system, as well as the Nintendo 3DS version's 2D and 3D modes. The 2D mode has been considered a striking feature for the 3DS since it is a nod to the earlier classic "Dragon Quest" games.

While "Dragon Quest XI" may be featuring soaring high up in the sky with a flying mount, this actually isn't the only game in the series to boast of this feature. The previous installment, "Dragon Quest X" actually had flying mounts introduced. However, while the previous titles always featured the protagonist and his friends combatting the terrifying, fire-breathing reptiles, "Dragon Quest XI" actually features dragons as a usable ally and mount.

While "Dragon Quest X" didn't have a U.S release back then, the gameplay and traditional, single-player nature of "Dragon Quest XI" may suggest that it would be released for the U.S soon.

While the Nintendo Switch version is still in development, "Dragon Quest XI" is set for release in Japan on PS4 and 3DS sometime in 2017.
