New York has been rising as of late with a two-game winning run. The team has won six of their last seven games to climb to the third spot in the East standings, four games behind conference leaders and defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers.

In their most recent game, the Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 118-112, on the road at the Staples Center on Sunday night, as per the New York Daily News. The Knicks used a big third quarter run to gain distance from the Lakers and hold them off in the fourth period.

Kristaps Porzingis top-scored for head coach Jeff Hornacek's team with 26 points along with 12 rebounds, two assists, and seven blocks. Derrick Rose had 25 points on 12-for-16 shooting with three boards and four assists.

Carmelo Anthony struggled from the field, shooting 4-for-16, finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Courtney Lee chipped in 16 points while Brandon Jennings fired 19 points off the bench.

Meanwhile, the Suns have lost six of their last eight matches to fall to the third from the last place in the West, four games behind the eighth spot currently occupied by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Phoenix dropped a heart-breaking 120-119 overtime loss to fellow struggling team New Orleans Pelicans also at their home court of Talking Stick Resort Arena last Sunday, ABC News reported.

The Suns led by as much as 15 points in the third quarter but the Pelicans were able to get the lead in the last five minutes of regulation. Eric Bledsoe had the chance to win the game for Phoenix in regulation, but his three-pointer at the buzzer was way off the mark.
