Contract of the K-Pop group Wonder Girls with JYP Entertainment is coming to an end. The group debuted in 2007 under JYP Entertainment.

Insiders revealed that the contract of the four-member band with their label will expire at the end of December this year. It is said that both parties are prudent when talking about renewal.

In a statement released by JYP, the label confirmed, "Wonder Girls' contract is ending in January. We are talking about renewing their contract," as translated by Allkpop.

However, there is not final decision about whether they'll be renewing their contracts or not. As per regulations, celebrities are allowed to meet with other labels 3 months prior to the contract expiration with their current labels.

The group's current line-up consists of Yubin, Yeeun, Sunmi, and Hyerim. They are co-managed by Creative Artists Agency in the United States.

It is worth noting that, in 2009, the group penetrated the American market as an opening act for "The Jonas Brothers' World Tour." During the concert, the group performed the English version of their hit single "Nobody."

"Nobody" ranked at number 76 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in late 2009, making the group the first ever K-Pop group to enter the chart. By the following year, the group penetrated the Chinese market with their compilation album, "Wonder Girls" which included Chinese versions of their hit singles "Nobody," and "Tell Me."

The group also debuted in Japan under DefStar Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan. So far, Wonder Girls have sold a total of 19,000 albums in the United States.

Meanwhile, one of its member, Yeeun, recently joined the protest against South Korea's President Park Geun Hye. The protest is about making the President step down in her position in light of a corruption scandal.

The 27-year old singer took to Instagram a picture showing her holding a LED candle, which is one of the protest symbols. Yeeun also revealed that as the first snow falls, she felt that she had to be on the protest.
