It was earlier reported that a collaborative performance between the American rapper Wiz Khalifa and Girls' Generation member Taeyeon will commence on "2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards" or simply called MAMA 2016. However, netizens were shocked to find that the collaborative performance of the two stars never happened.

Following the incident, many fans have expressed their disappointments to their failed collaboration. The 29-year rapper then addressed the situation through his Twitter account, saying, "The fact that Taeyeon backed out of our performance caught me off guard too but never accept rejection as failure," Soompi cited.

To give light to the situation, the Girls' Generation member revealed her side of the story on why the collaboration with Khalifa was cancelled. The 27-year old singer took her explanation to her Instagram story.

"A lot of people have been wondering about the stage from yesterday so I'd like to explain (If it were me I'd be curious too). Yesterday, I was rather anticipating the performance myself after greeting Khalifa and rehearsing with him, however, during the broadcast, I heard that the audio file we were supposed to use had a problem," as translated by Allkpop.

Taeyeon revealed that prior to their performance, they weren't able to do a proper sound check, which is the cause why their performance for "MAMA 2016" was cancelled. The singer also expressed her outmost disappointment to what had happened.

Earlier, a rehearsal video of Taeyeon and Khalifa has been circulating online, showing the two singing "See You Again." The song was originally sung by Khalifa and Charlie Puth and was part of the "Furious 7: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack."

The Mnet Music Awards commonly abbreviated as MAMA is an annual K-pop music awarding ceremonies held by CJ E&M through its music channel Mnet. The awards involves some of the most renowned actors and celebrities, not only in South Korea, but also in countries such as China, Japan, Canada, and the United States.
