FX has greenlit the pilot order for the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff, "Mayans MC."

The news, first reported by Deadline, comes months after the cable network ordered a script from "Sons of Anarchy" creator, Kurt Sutter back in May. Kutter, who is helming the first epsiode, co-wrote the script with his partner Elgin James, who will also serve as the show's executive producer. Production for "Mayans MC" is set to begin in March next year.

The follow-up story of the motorcycle gang drama will tackle the storyline of the Mayans, a group of Latino men who played a pivotal role in the final season of "Sons of Anarchy." FX is describing it as a show set in a post Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border, struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel, and his need for respect from the women he loves.

Cast information has not been released. It's also yet to be determined whether or not characters from the original series will make appearances in future episodes.

Actor Emilio Rivera, who played the president of the Oakland Chapter, shared a photo on Instagram that teases the return of the Mayans.

"#Rollout Mayan Monday gonna be a Crazy Ride," the actor said.

No word yet if Rivera's character will play a role in the spinoff.

Over its seven year run, "Sons of Anarchy" ranked as the highest-rated drama series in the history of FX. The series starred Charlie Hunham, Katey Sagal, Kim Coates, Maggie Siff, Theo Rossi and Ron Perlman.
