It looks like it's been a habit for game developers to give away their games for free lately. Maybe it's part of their goodwill, or maybe it could be that they're celebrating something special. In the case of Ubisoft, they're giving away one of their prized games for free, which is "Assassin's Creed 3," as part of the 30th anniversary celebration.

According to the publisher Ubisoft in its official Twitter page, 2012's "Assassin's Creed 3" will be free through Ubisoft's Uplay service starting on Dec. 7. This, however, will be the last game that studio will give away as part of the promotion. The whole promotion program began all the way back in June, earlier this year. Part of this free-to-play promotion includes games like "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" (released back in June), "Splinter Cell" (July), "Rayman Origins" (August), "The Crew" (September), "Beyond Good & Evil" (October), and "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" (November).

"Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" is still available now for free for players to pick up before it's replaced by "Assassin's Creed 3," according to Gamespot. "Blood Dragon" is also free for those who still have Xbox 360 and are Gold Members for Xbox Live, although only up to the end of the day.

According to Gamespot reviews, "Assassin's Creed 3" has gotten a score of 8/10.

"'Assassin's Creed 3' is a big game that gives you a lot to do, some of which is fleshed out relatively well, and some of which isn't," reviewer Kevin Van Ord said. "It is not, however, content to rest on the series' laurels. It takes chances with its opening, with its story, and with its characters. It expands the series' gameplay in enjoyable and sensible ways,"

The game revolves around Desmond Miles getting into Animus once more to find out more about his ancestors' history in order to stop the antagonistic force of the Templars. This time he'll donning the moccasin shoes of half-English, half-Mohawk ancestor, Ratonhnhaké:ton, also known as Connor, during in the 18th century, before, during and after the American Revolution from 1754 to 1783 to fight against the Templars of that age to free the colonies from their tyranny.
