Nintendo has been kind enough to have the Virtual Console (VC), which is a specialized section of the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop online services that allows player to buy and re-experience old games (mostly unaltered) for Wii, Wii U and 3DS. One such game to be available and purchased in VC for the 3DS is SNES's "Breath of Fire II" released back in 1995.
According to Dualshockers, "Breath of Fire II" was released back in 1995 in North America for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was ported to the Game Boy Advance in 2001, and had a release datefor Virtual Console on Wii and Wii U in 2007 and 2013 respectively. And, now, fans will be able to purchase "Breath of Fire II" as part of the updated Nintendo 3DS system's new Virtual Console feature that includes SNES games.
As for the concept, the game was set 500 years after the first game. Here's how the plot goes: "You are the last member of the Dragon clan, fighting to rid the world of a growing evil. A cast of unusual and exciting companions joins you in your adventures across a wondrous land full of magic and mystery. You'll find strange mystic items, memorable monsters and exotic locations in your quest to conquer evil. There's strategy and spellcasting galore in the hours of compelling action and adventure that awaits you!"
Siliconera expands this further saying that players will take on the role of none other than dragon boy Ryu and winged girl Nina - the common protagonist name staple of the series. Ryu's home was saved by a dragon from demons but no one remembers him, his sister, or his father. Ryu was an orphan raised by the church along with his childhood friend, Bow, before becoming swords-for-hire. They bump into Nina and a few more friends to stop demons from causing chaos in the world.
"Breath of Fire II" has been released for the Nintendo 3DS on VS for $7.99.
