After 14 years, Vin Diesel is set to reprise his role as Xander Cage in 'xXx' sequel the 'Return of Xander Cage.' Joining Diesel in his second outing as National Security Agency spy is Chinese martial artist and actor Jet Li. While most of the details about the movie are being kept under the wraps, a significant information related to Li's role has been revealed. Read on for more details.

For quite some time, rumours about Li's involvement in the movie were swirling around. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the 52-year-old actor has finalised the deal with the production company to feature on Revolution Studios' upcoming sequel.

Sources told the publication that Li will be leading his own team in "xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage." Fans can also expect an explosive action sequence when the two action stars Li and Diesel face off. Media outlets are speculating whether Li's character will be the ultimate villain of the movie or not but there is no confirmation yet.

Revealing the big news about Li's casting, Revolution Studio's COO Scott Hemming released a statement. "We are extremely excited to have Jet Li join the cast of 'xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage' as Raif, who is pitted against Vin Diesel's Xander Cage, and watch these two in action as they raise the bar with some of the most incredible stunts on film."

"XxX: The Return of Xander Cage" cast also includes some hot faces. "The Vampire Diaries" actress Nina Dobrev, one of the top Bollywood starlets Deepika Padukone and "Orange is the New Black" actress and model Ruby Rose are also the part of the follow-up. Joining them as a cast member is Hollywood's critically acclaimed actor Samuel L. Jackson.

According to Daily Mail, "Ong Bak" star Tony Jaa will also be seen in the movie. Commenting on Jaa's involvement in the movie, Hemming said: "The 'xXx' franchise is known for spy plots, espionage twists, government turns and extreme action; with Tony now part of that formula, he rounds out the cast that won't disappoint" (as quoted by THR in its Jan. 21 report).

The actors will start filming in February in Toronto and Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, the release date of the movie is yet to be announced.
