It's hard to please people these days. Take it from Gigi Hadid. The model suffered a semi-roasting over Twitter during her hosting gig over at the AMA's. Zayn Malik's arm candy made a Melania Trump in hopes to draw some laugh from her the awards show viewers. Unfortunately, the impersonation was a meh as fans called it awkward.
Gigi Hadid was advised to stick to her modelling when twitterverse lambasted her for her "racist" impersonation when she put on a thick Eastern European accent, pouty mouth, and squinty eye to assume Melania Trump. When the eldest Hadid tried to mock the plagiarized speech of the soon-to-be First Lady, Twitter erupted but not with mirth.
The model was called out for being disrespectful, Daily Mail UK reported. Her stint simply did not sit well with the viewers especially because she's mocking President-elect Donald Trump's wife. One viewer even said second-hand embarrassment is not her thing and said Gigi is just too uncomfortable to watch.
One viewer tweeted that if Gigi is not happy about the Trumps, she's free to leave the country because what she did was the highest form of disrespect. Another even tagged the real Donald Trump and guessed the new US President will demand an apology from the model the very next day.
In a parade of revealing dress over the evening, the model also revealed she totally sucks at impersonating or hosting. She even tried to rap, which made her more awkward and made her fans all around the world drown in embarassment, The Wrap reported.
After her monologue, which was chimed in by SNL alum Jay Pharoah impersonating Donald Trump, Gigi Hadid for the first time became a Twitter trend in a very bad way. Her Melania trump impersonation will go down in history as the most memorable moment in her hosting career or career in general. But many fans are hoping she sticks to what she does best - being Zayn Malik's girlfriend/muse.
While the model embarrassed herself, her hunk of a boyfriend Zayn Malik won the New Artist of the Year Un-Leashed By T-Mobile. It's enough proof that Zayn is making it on his own away from his One Direction buddies.
