Vice President-elect and Donald Trump's running mate Mike Pence attended a night of Broadway performance of the Tony award-winning "Hamilton" where he was met with loud boos by the audience as he arrived in the theater. The boos and jeering from the crowd was only just the beginning of one could be one of the most awkward night for the upcoming second highest elected official of the United States of America.

Deadline reported that the cast of the critically-acclaimed "Hamilton" addressed the Vice President-elect with a heartfelt plea as he left the theater at the end of the show. "Vice President-elect, I see you walking out but I hope you will hear us," said Brandon Victor Dixon, who took over the role of Aaron Burr from Leslie Odom, Jr. earlier this year.

"We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values, and work on behalf of all of us."

"We hope you enjoyed the show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and orientations. We truly hope that you heard our message sir, because [this] represents all of us," Dixon concluded which was followed by loud cheers from the audience.

Audience members during the Vice President-elect's appearance described the night as one filled with frequent loud boos by those in attendance. The jeering from the crowd was much notable during the "You'll Be Back" number and intensified when the song came to "When your people say they hate you...", which resulted to the show stopping for a full minute until the loud boos died down.

Before chosen as President-elect Donald Trump's running mate, Pence was governor of Indiana who came to national headlines when he signed the controversial law which is the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Until it was amended after causing a nation uproar, the law allowed discrimination against gay people by private businesses.
