Supermodel Gisele Bündchen goes beyond just the catwalk. She is a philanthropist, cover model, mother, and she also graced the Rio Olympics opening ceremony. Now, climate change activist should be added to those titles as she is set to star in the award-winning National Geographic Channel's environmentalist series "Years of Living Dangerously".

The super successful Brazilian beauty will embark on an expedition deep in the rain forests of her country of origin as cameras cover her every step, Vogue reported. This way, the show can reveal the real score on deforestation and how it adversely affects the environment, especially in terms of climate change.

Gisele told Vogue that environmental issues are very important to her. She said she saw the first season of "Years of Living Dangerously" and she liked so much, which is why she got excited when the producers approached her for the role. Her episode will show the viewers what forces are threatening the environmental sanctuary and their effect on climate change.

The episode will also show how the rain forest maintains the balance of the earth's climate. She said that the Amazon rain forest serves as a filter to massive amounts of carbon dioxide and it acts like an air conditioner to the world it emits vapor and brings rain. It is also houses the biggest biodiversity in the planet. This means, if the rain forest is ruined, so is the world.

The second season of National Geographic Channel's "Years of Living Dangerously" was launched last Sunday, The Climate Group reported. The premier screening of the new season was on September 21 during the Climate Week NYC. Executive Producer Arnold Schwarzenegger said at the American Museum of Natural History during the premier screening that the show is about encouraging people to work together.

Bündchen said that having an open mind is integral. That people should be well informed on these matters. There are a lot of small changes people can do in their daily lives to protect the environment, she said. If more people are aware, there will be a major positive change in the world's environment. She also encouraged people to take part in protecting the world, since it is everyone's home.
