EXO-CBX members gamely answered questions about the reasons for the formation of the sub-unit and why they got the name.
In their appearance on "Cultwo Show" on Nov. 2, members of EXO-CBX shared the story before the sub-unit was formed.
"We work out together, and the trainer said that the three of us have similar heights and would do well if we [did a group] together," Baekhyun narrated as per Allkpop.
He continued, "That's why we actually suggested that to the company and ended up making this unit. We made the name something easy for the public to say. We tried rearranging the order [of the letters], but CBX seemed the best."
Reports claimed CBX stands for ChenBaekXiu for Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin. The EXO sub-unit released their first mini album "Hey Mama!" on Oct. 31, alongside the official music video of the title track, Soompi reported.
On the same day of the release, EXO-CBX took the stage for their debut showcase. The trio's opening act was their performance of "The One," which was previously revealed during "The EXO'rdium" concert.
After their first performance, the EXO-CBX members then introduced themselves to the audience. Baekhyun said, "Hello, I am EXO-CBX's tallest member," followed by Chen who said, "Hello, I am the next tallest member," while Xiumin retorted, "Hello, I am EXO-CBX's oldest member."
Aside from performances, the EXO-CBX members also held a guessing game, making their debut showcase more fun. The members also entertained questions from the fans, where the trio shared their pieces of advice to the sender.
Meanwhile, EXO-CBX was surprised with a video greeting from the rest of EXO before their debut showcase concluded. EXO congratulated their co-members for the success of their debut as the first sub-unit of the boy group.
