Preview

Portland has won two of its first three matches this season before they were crushed by the Golden State Warriors, 127-104, at the Moda Center on Tuesday, as per Oregon Live.

Main man Damian Lillard led the team with 31 points while backcourt partner CJ McCollum contributed 16 points and four rebounds.

However, a big 41-point third quarter for the Warriors, with 23 of those points coming from Stephen Curry, sealed the game and handed head coach Terry Stotts' team their second loss of the season.

"They played their game. In the first half, we were right there. In the second half, they stuck with it," said Lillard. "Their defense was more consistent than ours, and their offense was more free than ours was. We needed to have more of a presence."

"It just got away from us. It's a learning experience for us but, at the end of the day, it's one game out of 82," Lillard added.

Rookie Jake Layman and former Celtic Evan Turner scored 17 and 14 points off the bench respectively. Layman, a second-round draft pick in June, scored all of his points in eight minutes during garbage time.

Meanwhile, the Suns were also routed by another Western Conference heavyweight, the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-98, at the Staples Center on Monday for their most recent game, Fox Sports reported.

Three Phoenix starters scored in double figures to lead the head coach Earl Watson's squad with Brandon Knight, who filled-in for the injured Devin Booker at the starting shooting guard spot, leading the charge with 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting.

TJ Warren and Eric Bledsoe had 15 and 12 points respectively with the latter also hauling down eight boards and dishing out five assists.

Booker is currently out with a sprained toe and has not yet been given a timetable to return.

Prediction

With the Suns still winless and currently undermanned, the team's morale is not high at the moment. Lillard is known to always have a monster game following huge losses and Portland will ride on him once again to beat Phoenix.
