Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford will be back for the next Indiana Jones movie but without its creator George Lucas.

Although Spielberg said in the past that he will never do an Indiana Jones film without Lucas, looks like it's going to happen.

In a confirmed report, Lucas will certainly play no part in the story for the next Indy movie, one of the most iconic characters he created for films. Critics find it good news what with the failure of the 4^th movie which left a lot of fans very unhappy.

Writer David Koepp confirmed this news himself as he is hard at work for the script of the next Indy movie. Koepp collaborated with director Steven Spielberg for several movies such as "Jurassic Park" and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull," Collider reported.

At the Crystal Skull, Koepp was closely working with George Lucas because the film's character and its plots was his baby. Lucas would come up with the idea and Spielberg would interpret it. Although Spielberg said Lucas will be an executive producer, this time, however, it is still unconfirmed as his name is not included in the film credit.

The fallout has no specific reason but it could be attributed to the fact that the last Indiana Jones film left several fans frustrated as to why the world of adventure, which Indiana Jones is so famous for, was mixed up with aliens and UFOs. It was filled with tons of CGIs and one fridge that fans couldn't really forget about nor forgive.

The film just took several critical shredding, Forbes reported. Spielberg was apparently apprehensive to transform Lucas' idea about aliens in the 1950s but pushed on with it trusting the latter's instincts, which apparently turned out to be a wrong turn.

Rumor has it that Lucas has run out of creative juices. He likened his relationship to the Star Wars franchise as a divorce and was reportedly disappointed with how Force Awakens turned out. Now his baby, Indiana Jones, will be in the hands of other creative people.

Indiana Jones is set to be released in 2019 but the shooting hasn't started just yet.
