Chinese reality TV show "Survivor Games" forced celebrity contestants to drink their own urine as part of a survival challenge.

British adventurer and TV show host Bear Grylles hosts the show as he led a number of celebrities to a 12-day survival trip in the wild. The celebrities had to overcome physical and psychological challenges during each survival mission.

Aside from eating live worms, the contestants were also asked to drink their own urine as part of a survival mission.

Former TVB actor Michael Tse participated in the Chinese reality program, along with Andy Zhang, Janine Chang, Da Zhangwei and Cecilia Han.

During the last episode of the show, Grylles asked each contestant to urinate in a bottle. Tse initially thought that the urine was part of a test by saying that he believes he is healthy, given his healthy urine color.

Grylles then told the celebrities to drink their own urine. Naturally, most of them struggled to complete the task and even refused to drink except for one. The urine was boiled beforehand and was mixed with water the day before.

Although Tse was initially disgusted, he took one deep breath and drank the whole bottle of urine. Tse said that while drinking the urine was disgusting, Grylles sent a good message he was trying to convey. It also helped him to know that the urine was from himself.

After the episode aired, many fans slammed the show for being disgusting and tasteless. Other fans praised Tse for his courage in the show.

In an article released by Grylles' official website, "Survivior Games" features eight celebrities as they battle living 12 days in the wild while facing everything and anything the jungle and Grylles can throw at them.

Betty, a Discovery-owned UK production house, teamed up with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) of China to bring the show to life. The show airs across China on Dragon TV and is co-produced by Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific and Bear Grylles Ventures (BGV)

In May 2014, Telegraph quoted Grylles as saying at the Hay Festival 2014 that children should not try drinking their own pee at home. The statement came as he received a series of complaints from parents whose kids were inspired to follow his tips for combatting dehydration.
