Studio Ghibli has been known to have produced heartwarming yet epic Japanese animated films for quite some time. Now, the studio has agreed with Amazon Studios to air "Ronia The Robber's Daughter," a 26-episode Japanese animated series co-produced by Studio Ghibli, directed by Goro Miyazaki (the son of Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki), and animated by CGI animation studio Polygon.

According to Kotaku, the American version will be dubbed by "X-Files" actress Gillian Anderson and set for release on Amazon Prime later this year for subscribers in the US, UK, Japan, Germany and Austria.

The Verge was able to detail out the story for "Ronia" (or "Ronja," in the Japanese version), which is based on the 1981 fantasy novel by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, (who also created Pippi Longstocking). It follows a young girl, who as the only child of the leader of an infamous band of thieves, growing up in a forest with strange and wonderful creatures.  As she enjoys having adventures in the forest, the girl eventually bumps into a young boy, who she eventually falls in love with. The relationship, however, is somewhat like a "Romeo and Juliet" type since the both the girl and the boy are from rival factions.

Of course being the Studio Ghibli fashion that it is, the show is no exception to the beautifully artistic backdrops, especially for the forest scenes and it usually rounded character designs. However, since this was made recently, there is also going to be a blend of CGI renders as well.

Studio Ghibli has been one of Japan's most famous and beloved animation studios, known for classics like "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," "Princess Mononoke," and a number of Japan's most popular and highest-grossing anime films.
