Filipino singer Charice Pempengco, who is professionally known as Charice, thanked Rene Angelil for giving her a great opportunity to sing with Celine Dion after his death. She even sent prayers and supporting message to Dion and her family.

The 23-year-old singer star posted a photo of Angelil and a heartfelt message for his family on her Instagram account on Jan. 15. In her message, she expressed her gratitude to Angelil for letting her perform with Dion during Taking Chances Tour in 2008 at Madison Square Garden. Also, she sent out a message to Dion and her sons to "stay strong." Scroll down to read Charice's message to Dion.

Charice, a singer who rose to prominence through YouTube, had appeared on The Oprah Winfrey show as "the most talented girl in the world. According to Manila Bulletin, Charice told Oprah Winfrey that Dion is her "ultimate idol." Following which, she was invited to perform with "My Heart Will Go On" singer.

It is said Charice and Dion are linked in many ways. The Canadian musician David Foster is said to have launched Dion as well as Charice.

Angelil passed away on Jan. 14, 2016 battling cancer. According to TMZ, Rene Angelil took his last breath at couple's Las Vegas home. The Canadian singer was diagnosed with cancer in 1998. However, his condition begin to worsen last year. Dion took a break from her career to look after her husband.

Dion and  Angelil were married for 11 years after going public in 1993. Angelil has six children, three from his previous marriage and three sons with Dion.

In additional news, Dion is dealing with another family tragedy. According to the press statement by Dion's rep (via E!Online) singer's brother, Daniel passed away a few days after her husband death after suffering from throat cancer, tongue and brain cancer.

It is reported that a religious funeral for Daniel will be held at St-Simon-et-Jude, in Charlemagne Québec.

"His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated," the statement read.
