Thai people were shaken upon hearing about King Bhumibol Adulyadej's passing on Thursday morning. Many of them even flocked the hospital in Bangkok were the King was admitted to pay respect and mourn the demise of the longest-reigning monarch.

2PM's Nichkhun, who's native country is Thailand, was among those who are saddened about the King's death after serving the country for 70 years. On the same day, the 2PM member expressed his grief on Twitter for the passing of King Bhumibol, Allkpop reported.

A rough translation of Nichkhun's tweet said, "The baby was born the son of a royal father ever again."

Although the 2PM was born in California, both of his parents are Thai of Chinese descent. According to reports, Nichkhun's mother owns a Thai pharmaceutical company, which was established in 1976.

Meanwhile, his co-member Taecyeon also expressed his condolences on the death of Thailand's King. "RIP His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. 1927-2016," he tweeted on Friday.

On the other hand, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn reportedly asked the Prime Minister to delay his pronouncement as the new king of Thailand to give him time to mourn for the death of his father, Daily Mail reported.

"I had a royal audience with the Crown Prince (Maha Vajiralongkorn) and he asked for time to prepare before being proclaimed as the new king. He said at present, he is the heir apparent. But he would like to take some time to mourn, together with the people of Thailand," said Thai leader Prayut Chan-O-Cha.

Reports suggest that the government officials announced the country will be in a year-long mourning following the death of the ninth monarch of Thailand. Aside from that, all entertainment programs and festivities will be "toned down" for a month to mourn the death of King Bhumibol.
